~~ OUR STORY ~~

Whimsical Wishes was originally created in Ohio in 1994.

The whole thing was started as the result of my 'jewelry addiction', and the fact that I got a job in a craft store
after I graduated from high school.
(People who love jewelry should never look at packages upon packages of beads on a regular basis! LOL)

Needless to say, I started making jewelry and found that it was the perfect outlet for my creative impulses.
I also found out that there IS only so much jewelry a person can make for herself before she has to look for other outlets.
Therefore, I decided to turn my 'craft' into a business and start doing shows during the holiday season.

Time went on.   I started a career in the library system, married, had a baby, and all the while continued to putter around with my
little jewelry making business.   Things started to change for the worse in our hometown - a place my husband & I had
spent our whole lives in.   So, after years of batting the idea about, we finally decided to drop everything and move before
matters became even more complicated by having a school-aged child

....and we decided I was finally going to get the chance to really see what my business could do!

So now I'm a stay-at-home mom with 2 kids and an online gift shop :)

~~ WHAT IS WHIMSICAL WISHES? ~~

During the time it's been in existance, Whimsical Wishes has gone through many phases.
Long gone are the days of only selling handcrafted jewelry!

Whimsical Wishes has been an online presence for 5 years... an eBay store for over a year...and is now being
transformed into a Yahoo eCommerce Store!

As time goes on, I've added an ever-widening range of high quality products.
ONLY items from manufactures we personally like are offered for sale!
Whether it be something that was received as a gift like the Scramble Squares® puzzles,
or a longtime favorite like Wild Berry® Incense, these products have to meet our standards before we will offer them for sale.
This includes any product requests.

My husband & I have created & designed the entire web site ourselves (with help from some GREAT 'how to' sites - more details
will be added to our Links page.) We've also taken all the pictures that are not credited to a specific manufacturer.
Please note: NONE of the images on this site can be used without prior permission.
For those graphics that were gotten from a 'free site', I will include a credit on the Links page.

~~ THE STORY BEHIND MANGO MAGE GIFTS ~~

When it was decided that we would be scaling down our eBay Store and concentrating on this web site, I realized we
needed an identity that would be easier for our customers to find. I also wanted something that reflected who we are now.

For a few years now we have been using MANGO as an anagram for our family names.
It's much easier than trying to fit all of our names on a gift tag or card :)

Since this has become a family business, we figured it was only fitting to make Mango the basis of our new name.
After trying out a variety of options we decided that Mango Mage Gifts was both unique enough to be easy to find on search
engines, and suited our tendency towards fantasy & new age items.

Right now I'm mainly concentrating on getting our current stock on the website - so some pages may not be updated yet, and our
blog & newsletter are a bit behind. Rest assured, I am working on getting everything finished.
And with any luck, the finished product should be well worth the wait!
